Tin Horse emerges as French challenger to Frankel with French Guineas win

Posted by | Posted on 26-06-2011

Paul Hanagan and Richard Fahey have chalked off one achievement after another over the past 12 months, but a first Classic success proved beyond them here on Sunday as Wootton Bassett, who was unbeaten in his five starts in 2010, could finish only fifth behind Tin Horse in the Poule dEssai des Poulains, the French 2,000 Guineas.

Mickaël Barzalona’s Epsom Derby success

Posted by | Posted on 22-06-2011

Steve Cauthen was 18 years old when he won the American Triple Crown on Affirmed, and Lester Piggott was the same age when he rode his first Derby winner at Epsom in 1954. MLB Picks for June 25th – Dbacks Tigers, Twins Brewers

Posted by | Posted on 22-06-2011

Arizona Diamondbacks +160 @ Detroit Tigers -170 (Total: 7.5)

Justin Verlander has made a strong early season case for being the AL Starting Pitcher in the soon-approaching All-Star game. No-hitter aside, Verlander has been overpowering and dominant when at his best, sporting a microscopic WHIP of just 0.85. His personal record is 9-3, but on occasion the Tigers haven’t held up their end of the bargain, going just 10-6 in his 16 starts in 2011.

For Arizona, Joshua Collmentor isn’t a household name, but could be soon if he continues pitching the way he has early this season. I’m sure I’m not the only one who was taken a little aback glancing at tonight’s line and seeing Collmentor’s ERA nearly half a run lower than Verlander.
